CHC-EA. William Davenport MALTBIE, b. Jan. 4, 1789 (David 4, David 3, Jonathan 2, Wm. 1). m. Jan. 4, 1813, Frances WILLS of Mendham, New Jersey. At the time of her marriage, she was an orphan. She was dau. of James Wills, b. Feb. 15, 1763 at Mendham, N.J., and Sarah Beach, b. Aug. 15, 1768. They mar. March 15, 1788. Frances Wills was b. Feb. 2, 1792. She was the ward of Rev. Amzi Armstrong, D.D., in whose family she was brought up. She died on Staten Island, N.Y., in 1826 "much lamented by all who knew her."

The note sent was not clear as to who was intended, but I think William Davenport Maltbie. It reads: "He was Governor and Lieut. Governor of the State." He was a Merchant and died in 1832. He was a "Commission Merchant."

Miss Lesley E. Voorhees of Baldwinsville, N.Y., sends the following: "Frances W. Maltbie of New York, died Nov. 7, 1846, aged 20, at the home of Mrs. Emily Davis of Syracuse."

"Mrs. Emily Davis" was her first cousin, Emily Maria Turner, who married Henry Davis.
